Attraction
Notes From Dad
Attraction
Attraction can start at a young age but mostly it may happen after puberty. Attraction is basically a desire or interest in another person, either of the same sex or opposite sex. It is intense desire that creates different emotions and feelings. This article will explore several types of attractions and what their meanings represent.
Let's look at physical attraction- this attraction is basically the captivity of one’s appearance; it creates a desire of touch and intimate pleasures. There is a hormone in our body that releases oxytocin, the hormone of love; the more physically you and your partner become the more the arousal becomes. However, it is important to note that as time travels on the attraction becomes less and the relationship undergoes a transformation of different needs and may develop into a different need.
Another form of attraction is emotional; this is the feeling that builds between two people and can be very important because it fulfills the need of being connected. In this type of attraction two people may be linked in several ways such as through intellect and beliefs. This type of attraction tends to last longer and when combined with physical attraction it can solidify a couples desire to be together. This attraction empowers one’s sense of security and safeness. It helps with communication and builds a sense of trust and honesty between one another.
Finally there is the non-physical attraction, which is called Platonic; this feeling can be emotional and may lead to a wonderful friendship. It could be your best friend from grade school or someone you may admire and respect; you may count on this person for all the answers yet never be attracted to them.
The above attractions all involve some form of commitment; once you meet someone only you can determine the type of attraction which is best for you and your future.
Good Luck !!
