Couples and Texting

Notes From Dad

In this era of technology the use of our cell phones are taking over the personal persona of actual face to face communication. Back in 1992, when the first text message was sent, who would have imagined how lives would be change and how impersonal simple conversations would be. This article will examine the pros and cons of texting between couples.

Cons:

Many times when your partner wants to talk to you, your cell phone may not be working due to battery life and/or misplaced.

When texting to each other, emotions are not seen or felt; it not only becomes very dry and impersonal but also can be misinterpreted.

Sometimes when you text you say something that cannot be taken back; it is a visual for all to see and all of a sudden something which is personal becomes very public and could be an embarrassment.

A concern that occurs is one of you may text too often. Receiving texts at work can be annoying, getting a text while driving can be a distraction and invading your privacy or independence may show a sign of dependence on your partner’s personality.

Pros:

Having a cell phone is a convenience: it is fast and save times; it allows a couple to connect no matter where they are. Conversations that need to take place can happen immediately and prevent problems from arising.

Texting to our partner sometimes is easier than face to face conversations when there is an uncomfortable situation to discuss; or sharing true feelings to our partner if you are the shy and timid type of partner.

Texting is cost effective; it’s probably the least expensive way to communicate via technology. It is your own personal secretary that allows you to say and save all of your feelings, thoughts and feelings.

Texting can show a romantic side of you; it allows love songs, poems and visuals that come from your heart and mind.

Remember that texting can allow you to adapt a positive relationship; you have the ability to make your partner’s day by saying something sweet, flirty and encouraging. Just remember nothing is more meaningful than actual hugs and smiles from your partner in person.

Good Luck !!
