Pillow Talk
Notes From Dad
Pillow Talk
Sometimes some of a couple's best conversation happens during pillow talk. Now before you get real excited and wish to try this, let’s explain first, what pillow talk is and where these conversations take place.
Pillow talk occurs when a couple have a conversation in each other’s arms about life events, wants or needs that relate to their relationship. Pillow talk can happen on a couch, a bedroom or even a car. The important aspect of pillow talking is to be able to communicate with one another. Pillow talk often happens with little or no eye contact; by giving little or no eye contact, your thoughts and feelings can be non-judgemental. Pillow talk may lead to sex, however, most of the time it is a chance to be open about certain things and allow both of you to show your vulnerability. The cool thing about pillow talk is that you may feel more connected and develop a strong trust towards one another.
Some examples that may occur during pillow talk are:
-
What each of you bring to the relationship; strengths/ weaknesses.
-
What does the future look like and what are some goals;
-
How the world seems to be spinning out of control and how not to be caught up in all the negativity and finally
-
How important each of you are to one another and others.
Finally, there are some do’s and don’ts in pillow talk,
First, let’s look at the don'ts:
-
Never have your phone or any other electronic device - this may show you are not giving full attention.
-
No mention of former relationships
-
Avoid long drawn out conversations that have no end.
The do’s in a pillow talk could be;
-
Touching- soft caressing of hands, arms and face to gain your partner’s attention.
-
Don’t be shy with your emotions-for this is where trust begins to develop,
-
Be yourself; communicate to your partner your wants and needs and ask him to do the same.
Good Luck!!
