The Art of Sharing

Notes From Dad

The Art of Sharing

Sounds like a fairly easy thing to do, yet, many couples find it difficult to do so. The art of sharing begins at an early age, it is looked upon in our society as a social skill that creates trust and builds acceptance with your partner and today’s social circles. This article will touch upon some examples of couple sharing and how it can improve your relationship with your partner and others.

When you began your relationship together, there was obviously some form of attraction; feelings, time together, goals and family; so how does sharing come about; let’s look at feelings first. As you begin your relationship you both should be as open and honest; trying to hide one’s past usually comes back to disrupt your togetherness. Couples need to trust and count on each other; Sharing feelings is an emotional outburst that helps one another build a stronger and healthier relationship.

When we look at sharing time together, remember you each had friends before you began your relationship. Acknowledge that their friends are your friends as well , however, both of you will need to decide on some type of schedule when you both will be able to share quality time together. Sharing goals are a way of keeping each other accountable; when held accountable you both have an incentive to succeed and make a better life for each other. Sharing private or public goals with your partner will gain respect and help you become a more positive person.

The last art of sharing is “the family” This may be one of the most difficult things to do in a relationship because a family relationship is just that, a family. Dealing with family takes a lot of patience and communication. As a family it’s important to share time equally; You and your partner need to be able to interact with all members and develop a plan that will bring happiness and respect to all involved.

Finally, one important rule in the Art of Sharing is to take the time to think of each other and communicate.

Good Luck !!
