Best Friends
Notes From Dad
Best Friends
A relationship evolves in many ways. One of the most important aspects of a relationship is to be friends. This can be more difficult than you think because it a friendship takes time and trust.
This article will offer some suggestions and hopefully will move you into that critical stage of a relationship.
First, as you begin a relationship learn from your partner things that are important to them; it could be their family, money or professional life, whatever it is be there to support them in their beliefs.
Second, best friends accept each other’s bad habits and weaknesses. Don’t criticize, instead focus on turning their weakness and bad habits into a positive trait. For example, if they lack self-confidence build them up with praise and positive reinforcement. If they tend to smoke or do drugs try to understand the reason this is happening. It is important to understand that you never really get rid of a bad habit, you just change it into a positive one.
Third, be comfortable with each other’s past. We all have one. Try not to be judgemental, but accept it for what it is -a past. Don’t feel that you need to change your partner because of the past, instead, see it as an opportunity to grow closer to your partner.
Fourth, be able to accept criticism; we all struggle when told we are wrong or we do something wrong but best friends need to voice their feelings and move on. You will find that when best friends have and argument or disagreement that they do not escalate, rather they fizzle out rather quickly.
Finally, a best friend is willing to give their partner space and freedom. Plan time together and apart. This will help make both of you value your relationship with one another. A best friend will always be there to support you and help you achieve your ambition. So, as your relationship grows give it love, patience, communication and understanding.
Good Luck!!
