The Facts of Life

Notes From Dad

The Facts of Life

Now that I have your attention, what really are the facts of life in a relationship and how do they relate in making your lives happier and more complete.

Let’s first begin by looking at some misled information; first, a relationship is a wonderful thing, however, it does not guarantee that you have found your soulmate. A relationship is like a garden; it takes a lot of hard work and time to grow. Another misconception is that most relationships will last as long as the passion stays strong; unfortunately, as sad as it might sound, the passion and the efforts you both put in at first may decrease during your time together, so it is very important to focus on more important features, which I will mention soon, that can be more realistic and less stressful. The last misconception I would like to add is that some couples feel the storybook connection, which in fantasy is ideal, but the real story is how you both connect to each other through genuine respect.

The facts of life in a relationship is basically called CHERE’-Communication, honesty, emotion, respect and expectations; These means hopefully will lead to one of the most important parts of your lives–love.

The acronym, Chere,’ is one of the most common themes in a relationship; those five little words are the pavement you travel while making your relationship journey. From past articles, communication, honesty, emotion and respect has been discussed and I believe I have shown their importance, however, expectations are a quality that couples need to have. Expectations are important because as a couple they need to be real and heartfelt; this means you both fulfill each other's needs and wants.

Finally, like all facts, not all fits one size, as I mentioned earlier, it takes time, trust and the understanding that this is a partnership in which you both need to be 100% committed.

Good Luck !!
