Two people spending time together is a good thing or is it? This article will focus on several ways to improve and sustain a healthy relationship and you may be surprised that love is not one of them.
The first way is the old reliable method of speaking to one another- communication. This attribute is one of the main ingredients that solidifies a healthy relationship; In these moments of speaking to each other it’s important to be open with your feelings, discuss not only the good but also issues that may be preventing both of you from moving forward.
Aside from communication, always be truthful; nothing is harder and more hurtful than trying to explain a lie. Trust leads to respect and honesty; having cemented these in your relationship brings about a security and reliability that makes the two of you feel comfortable and safe with one another.
Commitment is being dedicated to your partner; it shows a consistency and a desire to be loyal and face life together; each one meeting one another’s needs is essential to strong unions. When committed, each partner will unselfishly make sacrifices for one another. One important note on commitment to remember; commitment is an interpersonal relationship, which means, it is not only a social connection but may be an emotional one as well.
Finally, a key element in a relationship is respect. Respect should begin with yourself; self-respect helps to building confidence and maintaining healthy relationships with other people. When in a relationship you will more than likely have everyday contact with your partner and you will occasionally disagree and quarrel. However, when there is respect in your relationship, you and your partner can feel comfortable knowing that it’s okay to not agree and move on.
One last thought; respect for one another signifies a strong bond and allows the both of you to be true to yourselves.
