How One’s Personality Affects Your Relationship

Notes From Dad

Recently, at a birthday party, I engaged in conversation with a couple who had totally different personalities. It made me wonder how one’s personality plays a role in a relationship. This article will look at several types of personalities and how they may or may not affect your relationship.

One of the first types may be that your partner is the proactive type; what this means is that they are in control and succeed in life because they are well organized and plan for the future. Proactive people also control their health by exercising and eating well; they can be very positive and feel there is a solution to most problems.

The next personality to discuss is the dreamer type; This type of person refuses to acknowledge the negativity in the relationship. This person feels that regardless of pain and sorrow from the relationship there will always be a bright side, in other words “love conquers all”. Being like this is admirable but usually is a sign of non- commitment, for they live for today with little or no plans for the future.

The next personality is the adventurer; this type of person enjoys new and different experiences; they are open to new ideas and are willing to go that extra yard to accomplish their goal. Adventurers also enjoy any type of challenge. They enjoy taking risks and may have a strong erotic sense that surrounds them. Their main goal is to enjoy life and never look over their shoulder.

Finally, the last personality (although there are several more) is the borderline personality. A person who has a borderline personality may have difficulties expressing their emotions. They sometimes show and have little emotion for themselves and others; this personality can have a negative effect on your relationship because feelings toward each other are confusing and questioned. Although borderline personality is said to be classified as a mental illness, it is usually seen at a young age and as one grows older with proper care and treatment the symptoms tend to be more manageable.

Good Luck !!
