The Act of Holding Hands
Notes From Dad
As a couple, in my opinion, one of the most romantic signs of a relationship is to hold hands with your partner. Hand holding is an important factor in one’s life. It helps to reduce stress, build confidence and can lead to intimacy. This article will share some forms of handholding and what they mean; it will also reveal some benefits of holding your partner’s hand.
First, we have one of the most common techniques which is down-face palm; the representation here is that the person whose palm is facing downward tends to be more in control, thus, assuming the dominant position. It is assumed that whoever is the dominant character is the person who will be the protector and be more of a friend rather than an intimate partner.
Another way to hold hands and show your fun side is the one-finger grip; this style, usually begins at the beginning of dating; is more of a carefree one, with some flirtiness and can be very romantic. This type of hand holding suggests a very casual relationship, where neither partner is looking for a commitment.
One of my favorites is the passive holding of hands; this physical display identifies two independent people that feel no need to display public affection, yet have a strong connection to each other’s world.
Finally, the last type of hand-holding is called the relaxed lace; this shows confidence and stability in your relationship. It is a union built on trust and respect as well as a chance to initiate some form of physical contact to release the oxytocin that stimulates one’s feelings.
Holding hands does have its benefits, they are;
-
The release of emotional feelings, such as empathy and confidence.
-
Portraying a positive self-image and helps to express the importance of your relationship.
-
Holding hands feels good and satisfies one’s meaning of togetherness.
Good Luck !!
